Preserving and Showcasing Agricultural Heritage at the Musee Francois-Pilote

Government of Canada supports three projects at the La Pocatiere Museum


LA POCATIÈRE, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Aug. 16, 2014) - The Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, today announced $54,278 in funding to help the Musée François-Pilote carry out three separate projects.

The Musée François-Pilote, named after the founder of Canada's first permanent school of agriculture in La Pocatière, is mandated to record, showcase and disseminate knowledge and practices associated with agriculture and food.

Quick Facts

  • $30,763 in funding, provided under the Collections Management component of the Museums Assistance Program (MAP), will be used to refit reserve spaces for the museum's collection of artifacts.
  • $15,000 in funding, provided under the Exhibition Circulation Fund of the MAP, is being used to present the temporary exhibition La santé à petites bouchées (Food for Health) from June 6 to October 12, 2014.
  • $8,515 in funding, provided under the MAP's Canada-France Agreement component, will be invested in a mission to cooperate and exchange professional services and expertise with a French museum.
