Golf Canada receives Government of Canada funding


LONDON, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Aug. 18, 2014) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Honourable Ed Holder, Minister of State (Science and Technology) and Member of Parliament (London West), on behalf of the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), today announced $175,000 in funding for Golf Canada. This funding, provided through Sport Canada's Hosting Program, supports the 2014 Canadian Pacific Women's Open Golf Championship.
The Championship is being held from August 18 to 24, 2014, at the London Hunt and Country Club in London, Ontario.

  • Sport Canada will provide up to $685,500 to Golf Canada during the 2014-2015 fiscal year through the Sport Support Program.
  • Sport Canada provided almost $119,000 under the Athlete Assistance Program to 17 golf athletes to assist with living, training, tuition and special needs expenses in 2013-2014.
  • Golf Canada is the sport governing body for golf in Canada. It represents more than 322,000 members at 1,500 clubs across the country. They are responsible for promoting participation in and a passion for the sport of golf in Canada.
