Government of Canada Supports Saint-Romain's 150th anniversary celebrations


SAINT-ROMAIN, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Aug. 20, 2014) - Canadian Heritage

The Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of International Development, Minister for La Francophonie and Member of Parliament (Mégantic-L'Érable), today announced $22,100 in funding for the Comité des Fêtes du 150e de Saint-Romain (Saint-Romain 150th Anniversary Celebration Committee). Minister Paradis made this announcement on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages. This funding is provided under the Community Anniversaries component of the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program.

The event, spread out over nine days between January 1 and October 31, 2015, will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the parish of Saint-Romain, located in the regional county municipality of Granit.

  • The 150th anniversary of this municipality, a community of nearly 800 residents, will feature the work of more than 50 artists, artisans and performers offering live music, demonstrations and guided tours.

  • Nearly 5,000 people will be invited to take part in the festivities, which will take place over 10 months and have the support of around 200 volunteers.
