Media Advisory: First Day of Annual Back to School Event a Huge Success! Brand-New Backpacks and School Supplies for 2,400 Children!

Today Welcome Hall Mission hosted day one of its two-day Back-to-School distribution. To help families on a low-income get their children ready for the school year, Welcome Hall Mission gave out backpacks bursting with school supplies to 1,200 children and expect to give out supplies to another 1,200 children tomorrow August 20th. The value of this give-away approximates $140,000!

Canadian Senator and former Montreal Canadiens Head Coach Jacques Demers was on hand as spokesperson. After taking a break from handing out backpacks, he commented on the importance of the back to school initiative: "I understand the plight of struggling families and I am proud to participate in this annual event. Families often just need a little help to get back on track during tough times."

WHAT: 2 fun-filled days of activities (sports, trampoline, inflatables, face painting etc.) and school supply distribution to over 2,400 children
WHEN: August 19th& 20th- 9a.m. - 4p.m. (Closed 12-1p.m.)
