Byte Consulting Launches First-of-Its-Kind Fintech Bootcamp in NYC; Fills Growing Need for Programmers in Finance

Offers Select, Limited-Time Scholarship for New Applicants

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Sep 4, 2014) -  Today, Byte Consulting, a global technology firm creating cutting-edge products for Wall Street, launched Byte Academy, a New York City-based bootcamp and workshop that bridges the gap between finance and computer programming to create a new class of financial technology (fintech) experts. The academy is the first-ever boot camp to focus solely on serving the financial ecosystem. Enrollment is currently open for the inaugural 12-week program, which begins September 29. And, for the next eight weeks, every new applicant at www.ByteAcademy.co will have the chance to win one of five full scholarships.

"New York is the global hub for finance, yet the industry is playing catch-up when it comes to technology," said Richard Hu, Dean of Byte Academy. "The result is a growing emphasis on technology recruiting by investment banks, asset managers, fintech startups, and everything in between. As the need for talent continues to expand rapidly, our goal is to arm exceptional people with the soup-to-nuts programming skill and financial acumen they need to fill today's and tomorrow's jobs."

The fintech sector is growing exponentially in New York, with the number of tech jobs increasing by 21% since 2006. Financial institutions are dependent on technology to create the best, efficient solutions for the industry. Technology dominates the once paper driven stock market; the majority of job opportunities at big banks are technology based, reflecting the push to keep the sector at the cutting-edge.

"Byte Academy was born from the clear need we've seen -- and the absence of any other boot camp doing what we intend to do," said Rak Chugh, Director of Byte Consulting. "Importantly, our unique, flexible approach will prepare graduates to meet that need regardless of background and experience; the program is equally suited for people just starting their careers and seasoned professionals in finance or technology."

Byte Academy is currently enrolling smart, driven applicants with an interest in finance or technology. Graduates of the academy will learn Python, Java and full-stack programming, along with a wide-range of financial concepts that together can interface with established, secure software at top financial institutions. Byte Academy will also introduce students to industry leaders to showcase their portfolio of financial programming projects, and work with job placement programs in coordination with Byte Consulting.

"Fintech in New York City is a huge and growing opportunity for developers," said Adam Lovallo, co-founder of Course Report. "We see a lot of programming students looking to break into the financial sector, and Byte Academy is the first bootcamp specifically dedicated to uniting finance and programming training."

To celebrate its launch, Byte will award five full scholarships to applicants based on demonstrated passion for a career in financial technology, as displayed in their application. Included in the scholarship is Byte Academy's twelve-week bootcamp and job placement service, and every applicant until October 30 is automatically entered to win.
