Cycling Canada receives Government of Canada funding to host international event


OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Sept. 11, 2014) - Canadian Heritage

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, on behalf of the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), today announced $75,000 in funding for Cycling Canada. This funding, provided through Sport Canada's Hosting Program, supports the 2014 Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec and the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal, which are being held in Québec City and Montréal on September 12 and 14, 2014, respectively.

  • Sport Canada's Sport Support Program is providing up to $4.5 million to Cycling Canada during the 2014-2015 fiscal year.
  • Sport Canada's Athlete Assistance Program provided almost $1,040,000 to 98 Canadian cyclists to assist with living, training and tuition expenses in 2013-2014.
