Prince Edward County Celebrates Canada's Classical Music Composers and Performers

The Government of Canada has provided $10,000 in funding to the Prince Edward County Arts Council for the 11th edition of the Prince Edward County Music Festival, which will take place from September 19 to 28, 2014, at various venues in Picton, Ontario.

Daryl Kramp, Member of Parliament (Prince Edward-Hastings), made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

  • The Prince Edward County Music Festival is a classical music festival that features both established and emerging Canadian artists and performances in a variety of genres, from baroque music to light classics of the 20th century.
  • The festival has hosted some of Canada's most celebrated composers, such as Jacques Hétu, Malcolm Forsyth, Chan Ka Nin, Andrew MacDonald, Alexina Louie, John Burge, Steven Gellman, Ana Sokolovic and Marjan Mozetich.
  • For 2014, the Festival enlisted a larger ensemble than ever before: I Musici de Montréal, a 15-member string orchestra whose vast repertoire ranges from baroque to contemporary.
