BERKELEY, CA--(Marketwired - Sep 25, 2014) - Trifacta, a Data Transformation Platform provider, today announced that Trifacta CSO, Joe Hellerstein, will present at the inaugural DataLEAD Conference. On Thursday, October 2, 2014, Hellerstein will be participating in the "Startup Session 1: Forging a New Path in Business" along with founders and C-level executives from Radius Intelligence, Synthicity,, Graphistry and BigML. Moderated by Josh Bloom, CTO and founder of, the discussion will focus on the process of taking an idea from academia to the world of business and forging new categories in technology.

"Trifacta was born out of a cross-Bay research project at Berkeley and Stanford. My co-founders, Jeffrey Heer, Sean Kandel, and I, saw that some of the biggest bottlenecks in data analysis lay with people struggling to understand and manipulate their data. We strongly believed that new, human-facing technologies for tasks like data transformation and profiling could make an enormous difference in practice. That research hypothesis provided the foundation for a successful company and innovative technology platform," said Joe Hellerstein, CSO of Trifacta. "I am looking forward to sharing what we've learned so far, and I hope that our discussion will encourage more academic researchers to take big ideas from campus and prove them out in the field."
