Phase 2 White Kidney Bean Extract Perfectly Matched for Low-Carb Diet Weight Loss Strategy

KEARNY, NJ--(Marketwired - Sep 25, 2014) - Two studies released this month confirm that a low-carbohydrate approach to weight loss is the superior option when choosing a diet. On average, those following a low-carb diet can lose 8 to 16 pounds and sustain that loss for at least a year. Yet, people who choose a low-carb diet often miss out on important nutrients including fiber, potassium, vitamin C and other phytochemicals that are significant to maintaining good health. However, simply incorporating Phase 2 white kidney bean extract -- an all-natural, non-stimulant proprietary ingredient found in many carbohydrate blocking nutritional supplements -- into the weight loss program can allow for moderate carbohydrate consumption without the absorption of the negative carbohydrate effects that typically lead to weight gain and increased risk of metabolic syndrome.

One recent study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, concluded that a low-carb diet was superior to a low-fat diet for the 148 people of diverse ethnicities who participated in the study. The participants on the low-carb diet not only had a more significant decrease in weight (8 pound average), but also reduced their cardiovascular risk factors compared to those on the low-fat diet.

A second study published this month by the Journal of American Medical Association, compared 48 previous studies including a total of 7,286 overweight and obese adults that confirmed the largest weight loss was with low-carbohydrate diets. Weight loss differences between individual diets were minimal and on average participants sustained a 16-pound reduction after a year.

Phase 2 is the only white kidney bean extract backed by numerous clinical studies for efficacy. One or two capsules before a meal can block up to 65 percent of unwanted carbs without gastric distress according to a study published in Nutrition Business Journal. In a double-blind, 123-participant study published in the peer-reviewed journal, Obesity, participants taking Phase 2 lost an average of 7 pounds in 12 weeks in addition to significant loss of body fat mass and weight circumference compared to the placebo group. Additionally, 73.5 percent of participants maintained their body weight for 24 weeks and reported decreased desire in sugary food cravings. This study is the longest single clinical study conducted on Phase 2 white kidney bean extract.

"Phase 2 doesn't stop working over time but becomes more effective the longer it is used," said Dr. Harry Preuss, a Georgetown University professor in the departments of biochemistry, medicine and pathology who has written extensively about the clinical studies of Phase 2 in his textbook, "Obesity Epidemiology, Pathophysiology and Prevention." "The decrease in desire for sweets with participants taking Phase 2 confirms what we have believed was possible with this specific white kidney bean extract making it a perfect complement for the low-carb diet."

Phase 2 can be found in nutritional supplements including: Natrol's Carb Intercept, Now Foods' Starch Neutralizer, Swanson's Phase 2 Starch Neutralizer and GNC's Total Lean Phase 2 Carb Controller. For more information, visit: www.phase2info.com.
