KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Sept. 27, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - Child development centre, Scholar Base, today announces its annual Open Day, raising public awareness for the centre's programmes and their benefit to children. The Open Day will be held on Sunday, September 28 at 4pm and will feature performances and presentations by Scholar Base students, as well as an exclusive promotional offer for parents registering prospective students at the event - more information is available at http://scholar-base.com/open-day-2014.

In addition to bringing attention to the positive effect that the enrichment centre has on children's academic development, Scholar Base's annual Open Day is also an opportunity for students to showcase their abilities on stage through presentations and dramatic performances.

Scholar Base programme director, Poh Lee, explains that this annual event gives children the exciting opportunity to perform in front of an audience and demonstrate their skills in articulation, confidence and physical expression. She commented:

"The Open Day is a truly memorable and fun event for children to participate in during the course of learning English at Scholar Base." She continued:

"This is an inclusive event, in which every child is given the opportunity to participate and every participant is given a present for their effort. No child is left out."

Poh Lee added that the Open Day will offer Scholar Base parents a fantastic opportunity to see their children take part in presentations including:

  • Storytelling: 'The Tiger and the Zebra' by Ken Nesbitt
  • Dramatic Performances of 'The Achilles' Revenge' and 'The Wind in the Willows'
  • Singing
  • Poetry Recitation

William Chin, director, explains that performance has a positive impact on the development of literacy, imagination and confidence in children. Commenting on the significance of the drama performances that are taking place at the Scholar Base Open House--which will see children dressed up in costumes and acting out both 'The Achilles' Revenge' and 'The Wind in the Willows', Mr. Chin said:

"Drama brings out the natural character of a child, which may otherwise be suppressed in his nurturing environment." He continued:

"It allows a child to imagine that he is a different character in a different place at a different time."

The Open Day at Scholar Base will be taking place on Sunday, September 28 at 4pm at the Old Klang Road Chapter, Tesco, Scott Garden Building. The agenda for the day includes a short speech given by Tan Poh Lee, who will introduce Scholar Base. The centre will then be announcing an exclusive promotion for parents enrolling prospective students on that day. The promotional offer will include two-weeks of free lessons, as well as a waiver of the normal enrolment fee of RM150 (note: this fee will only be waived for enrolments within the first week).

More information about the Open Day is available at the Scholar Base website at http://scholar-base.com/open-day-2014.
