NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Sep 30, 2014) - Laptop Mag, part of Tom's Guide, today announced Apple as the winner of its annual Tech Support Showdown. Get the full story here: blog.laptopmag.com/tech-support-showdown.
Laptop Mag's team of editors and writers went undercover to test the help you get from eight major laptop manufacturers via the company's websites, live chat, social networks and phone calls. Asking a handful of simple questions, Laptop Mag is able to determine speed, accuracy, friendliness and general helpfulness of major brands.
"Laptop shoppers tend to focus on specs and price, but they often overlook tech support," said Mark Spoonauer, Editor in Chief of Laptop Mag. "We go undercover each year as consumers to find out which brands are the most and least helpful. We continue to be surprised by how many companies won't answer simple software questions."
Apple consistently proved it knows how to treat customers, not just court new ones. The company's representatives proved knowledgeable and helpful. Only the lack of a social networking presence kept the company from earning a perfect score.
HP and Samsung tied for second place in this year's testing, with HP also earning the "most improved" award. ASUS brought up the rear. Be sure to find out how your favorite brand fared.
