Trustlook Releases First Shellshock Vulnerability Scanner for Android

Right After Privacy-Disaster Scanner, Trustlook Releases First Shellshock Vulnerability (CVE-2014-6271) Detection Tool for Android Within 48 Hours

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwired - September 30, 2014) - Trustlook Inc., an innovator in next-generation mobile security solutions, released the first Shellshock Scanner tool (http://goo.gl/47emfM) which effectively detects for the Shellshock vulnerability on Android. Acting quickly, Trustlook published their scanner within 48 hours of the disclosure last Friday.

Shellshock vulnerability(CVE-2014-6271) exploits a critical security flaw that has existed in the Bash shell for the last ten years, putting almost all computers which run Mac OS X, Linux and BSD systems at risk. According to experts the Shellshock vulnerability is magnitudes worse than the Heartbleed vulnerability uncovered in April, making it one of the most dangerous vulnerabilities ever discovered.

"Different from 'Heartbleed', Shellshock not only causes information leaks, but also gives attackers full control of the victim's machine." stated Tianfang Guo, Vulnerability Research Expert at Trustlook. "We'll keep tracking new kinds of attacks targeting services using Bash, and updating our protection solutions accordingly."

While recently several critical security vulnerabilities have severely threatened mobile users' privacies, Trustlook has remained on the cutting-edge of providing user protection for these vulnerabilities. "We strive to maintain our lead in providing the first and best protection against future security breaches," promises Allan Zhang, Trustlook's CEO.
