More than 3.5 million visitors line the streets of Manhattan to view the floats, balloons and performances along the 2 1/2 mile route of the parade, and over 50 million people view the parade on TV. The parade begins at approximately 9am at the Museum of Natural History and proceeds down Central Park West before turning east along Central Park South, then south on Sixth Avenue where the procession passes the Quin at 57th and Sixth Avenue.

The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade began in 1924 as the Macy's Christmas Parade and featured animals from the Central Park Zoo. The parade proved so popular that Macy's quickly committed to staging it as an annual event. The parade debuted is signature giant character balloons in 1927. Today, more than 8,000 volunteers produce the annual spectacle.

The Quin's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Experience is available for a starting rate in a Deluxe Room Of $1,249 per night, with a 3-night minimum stay required. The experience includes a Sixth Avenue view room (parade view), VIP access for 2 to the balloon inflating event on Thanksgiving Eve, and continental breakfast reception on Thanksgiving morning served in the Hotel Lobby. Dinner at The Wayfarer is available at a separate cost, and may be reserved in advance at time of booking. Parade-view rooms are also available as a package without the Wednesday evening balloon event, 3-night minimum required.
