A decade of unwavering support to the Philippine IT-BPM Industry

IBPAP set to celebrate its 10th year at the Int'l IT-BPM Summit

MANILA, Philippines, Oct. 4, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - The information technology and business process management (IT-BPM) industry is one of the biggest drivers of the Philippine economy today, contributing $16 billion in revenues and 900,000 in employment as of 2013. Instrumental to its tremendous success is the support of its enabling association, the Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP). As a testament to this, IBPAP will be celebrating its 10th year of service to the industry at the International IT-BPM Summit (IIS) to be held on October 13-14 at the Makati Shangri-La.

Emerging soon after the industry showed signs of great potential, IBPAP gathered support from the industry's stakeholders, including the Philippine government, local and foreign chambers of commerce, and allied industries such as property, telecommunications, and recruitment firms, to nurture the industry's continued growth.

"IBPAP saw the wonderful opportunities for the Philippines as a global IT-BPM powerhouse. We had the talent, we had the variables working in our favor, and as we can see now, our country is a leading destination for IT-BPM companies," said IBPAP president and CEO, Jomari Mercado.

IBPAP serves as the one-stop information and advocacy gateway for the industry. It assists investors in setting up operations in the country--providing the most relevant research, introductions to key government and industry officials, and a series of briefings at each step of the investment procedure to ensure seamless operations. IBPAP is also at the forefront of industry efforts to improve the country's business environment through constant dialogue with government's policymaking bodies. The association also plays a pivotal role in sustaining rapid growth of the industry by working to ensure an enduring supply of high-quality labor, supporting service innovation, and providing country visibility.

Celebrating the decade-long service and dedication to the industry, IBPAP, along with its co-presenters Globe Business and PLDT Alpha Enterprise, and other event partners, has organized the sixth annual IIS. With special participation from the Philippine government, global industry experts, and partner associations including the Animation Council of Philippines, Inc. (ACPI), Contact Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP), Game Developers Association of the Philippines (GDAP), Healthcare Information Management Association Philippines (HIMOAP), Global In-house Center Council (GICC), and the Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA), IIS is sure to be packed with relevant insights for all IT-BPM industry stakeholders.

One session during the Summit will review the industry road map 2012-2016, which projects the industry to generate $25 billion revenues and an employee base of 1.3 million by 2016. The session will tackle milestones, the industry's unprecedented growth, and where it is headed. It will unveil an impressive update of the industry, including projections for 2017 and beyond.

The industry has already hit its one million mark in employment this year. According to Mercado, the year's target of 1.04 million will likely be met by the end of September. He also stated that the industry is on track to hit its revenue target of $18 billion for 2014.
