Lilee Systems Advances Network Communications for Transportation Industry With DTS-2000 Dynamic M2M Telematics System

Software-Defined Smart Power Management, Redundant Communications and Modular Design Deliver High Availability, Greater Cost Savings and Lower Cost of Ownership

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwired - Oct 13, 2014) - Lilee Systems, the leading provider of advanced wired and wireless communication products, solutions and services for the transportation industry, introduced today the availability of the DTS-2000 Dynamic Telematics System, the next generation of products in the company's TransAir portfolio. Built on the new LileeOS 2.7 platform, the DTS-2000 is designed to address the high availability, low power, and cost efficiency requirements of complex communications networks.

The DTS-2000 represents the next evolution of the company's extensible dynamic transport servers for the transportation industry, supporting mobile and fixed applications in hi-rail, locomotive, and wayside environments. The new offering features an unprecedented level of flexibility and delivers software-defined smart power management, redundant communications, a modular design for investment protection, and remote monitoring for reduced manual maintenance.

Smart Power Management for Greater Cost Savings
The DTS-2000 enables lower power consumption and reduced cost by going to "sleep" when not in use, and "waking up" at full function in real time (no need to reboot). Built-in sensor tracking turns the server on or off as needed, particularly important in remote locations where communications can be limited and full power is not required, or there are no traditional power sources such as battery or solar power.

Redundant Communications for Constant, Reliable Connectivity
Reliable connectivity is essential for keeping transportation systems moving smoothly and safely. The DTS-2000 enables seamless roaming between Wi-Fi and cellular links, greatly enhancing constant, reliable connectivity with the back office. In addition, customers have flexibility to choose between telecommunications service providers to support their individual needs. With multiple options in place to ensure constant connectivity, communications failures are much less likely to be an expensive burden requiring the use of repair crews to fix. In addition, because many tracks are single track designed, alternative routes aren't available to accommodate the failure and entire lines can be disrupted, resulting in even more expense.

Flexible Modular Design for Investment Protection
The extensible, modular design of the DTS-2000 allows forward-capability with next generations of cellular communications for investment protection. Users can choose between Wi-Fi or LTE cellular through different interface cards that can be upgraded as wireless technology evolves.

Remote Monitoring and Diagnostics for Lower Cost of Ownership
Machine-to-machine (M2M) telematics enables users to remotely monitor, control, and perform diagnostics on the DTS when necessary -- without involving the physical presence of a maintenance or repair crew, which can be expensive. And with a ruggedized, industry-grade design, the system can withstand demanding environmental conditions for a longer lifecycle. As a result, users achieve a lower cost of ownership.

LileeOS 2.7
The new LileeOS 2.7 platform provides support across all of Lilee's end-to-end TransAir product family, and enables the new seamless roaming and other features and functionality inherent in the DTS-2000. An internal application engine allows users to load any business or positive train control (PTC) applications they wish to support, based on their requirements, including:

  • Mobile and fixed railway ITC messaging servers
  • Hi-rail Wi-Fi hot spots, performance monitoring and diagnostics
  • Intermodal communications between Wi-Fi and cellular networks
  • M2M telematics systems
  • Locomotive business applications

"With the release of the DTS-2000 and new LileeOS 2.7 platform, Lilee Systems is executing its software-driven approach to network communications, building on a robust platform that is feature-rich and specifically designed to meet the requirements of the transportation industry," said Kevin Nichter, Vice President of Rail Products and Services, Lilee Systems. "Redundant communications, lower power consumption, and reduced costs are among the most critical issues, and we will continue to innovate our products with these requirements at the forefront."
