THETFORD MINES, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Oct. 16, 2014) - Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, the Honourable Christian Paradis, Member of Parliament for Mégantic-L'Érable and Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, today announced that the company Les Sables Olimag Inc. has been granted financial assistance to commercialize its products on foreign markets.
This assistance is being awarded in the form of a $217,500 repayable financial contribution through the Canadian Initiative for the Economic Diversification of Communities Reliant on Chrysotile.

- Founded in 1986, Olimag is a major producer in Quebec and Canada of non-toxic abrasives for sandblasting.
- The assistance will enable the firm to increase its market visibility by, among other things, participating in trade fairs and introducing its products to prospective foreign customers, including in the United States, Mexico, Brazil and Australia.
- By carrying out this commercialization project, the enterprise will be in a position to diversify its export markets and consolidate its global sales.
- The project is expected to result in the creation of four jobs within the next 18 months.
- The Canadian Initiative for the Economic Diversification of Communities Reliant on Chrysotile aims to support projects linked with the economic diversification of the Des Appalaches and Des Sources RCMs that have the potential to create jobs in the short and long terms.
