Job Fair for Persons with Disabilities Hosted by the Neil Squire Society

On Thursday, October 23rd 2014, the Neil Squire Society will host a Job Fair for Persons with Disabilities in Burnaby, with support of the Government of Canada's Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities. With over 30 employers and 300 attendees, it will be the largest community event this year connecting employers with people with disabilities.

The Job Fair will run on Thursday, Oct 23, 2014, from 12:30pm - 3:30pm at the Firefighters Banquet & Conference Centre, Metrotown Complex. Immediately before the event, there will be a Brunch and Learn for participating employers on the business benefit, best practices in hiring people with disabilities.

The Neil Squire Society has successfully hosted Job Fairs for persons with disabilities in Regina, Saskatchewan for the last five years, and they are expanding this model to British Columbia and New Brunswick this year.

This Job Fair is exclusively for job seekers living with a disability. It will feature employers committed to a representative workforce. "At the event employers will be educated about the positive business case around hiring people with disabilities and learn practical information about jobsite accommodations. By connecting job seekers with disabilities to employers, this event will open more doors to employment for people with disabilities and help create an inclusive workforce," says Gary Birch, Executive Director of the Neil Squire Society.
