Statement on Behalf of Tony Iannuzzi, President of the Carpenters' District Council of Ontario

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Oct. 21, 2014) - "The Carpenters' District Council of Ontario is pleased with the initial findings of the Advisory Council on Government Assets and supports Premier Kathleen Wynne's decision to have the Advisory Council build on its work and enter phase two.

We believe that additional revenues from government assets will help spur the building of new infrastructure, roads and transit, which will create jobs and boost our economy.

We agree with the Premier that these assets are important to the people of Ontario and we commend the Government's efforts to keep them sustainable and cost-efficient, so that they can continue providing benefits for decades to come.

We also look forward to the Advisory Council's final report, due in spring 2015."

About Carpenters' District Council of Ontario

The Carpenters' District Council of Ontario ("CDC") is composed of 16 affiliated Local Unions of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners across the province. In total, we represent over 20,000 women and men working in a wide range of skilled trades, including carpentry, drywall, resilient flooring, concrete formwork, underwater construction, welding, scaffolding, and a long list of other construction-related work. Indeed, because of our up-to-date apprenticeship and training programs, there are very few construction-related jobs outside the scope of the Carpenters' Union. In addition, our union represents many industrial workers and thousands of highly-skilled workers in Ontario's health care sector.
