Wunderlich Expands Research Coverage with Additions of Burke, Dionisio and Birnbaum as Senior Analysts


MEMPHIS, Tenn., Oct. 28, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Wunderlich, a leading full-service investment firm headquartered in Memphis, today announced several additions to the firm's Equity Capital Markets division (ECM). Joining the equity research team as senior analysts are:

Liam Burke, Senior Vice President, covering Specialty Industrials and Materials sector

Rommel Dionisio, Senior Vice President, covering Recreational/Leisure and Active Lifestyles sectors

Jeff Birnbaum, CFA, Senior Vice President, covering the Master Limited Partnerships sector

Liam Burke has more than 20 years of industry experience, most recently as a Managing Director/Research Analyst at Janney Montgomery Scott LLC where he provided company analysis and stock valuations for a small and mid-cap equity universe that included both specialty industrials and chemicals. Before that, he was a senior equity analyst at Ferris, Baker, Watts, Inc. covering consumer and industrial companies, and a co-portfolio manager with Alex Brown Investment Management where he was involved with the management of a large debt and equity telecommunications sector mutual fund. He has a B.A. in Economics from Georgetown University and an M.B.A. in Finance from George Washington University. Burke is based in the firm's Baltimore, Maryland office.

Rommel Dionisio has spent over a decade covering the Recreational/Leisure and Active Lifestyle sectors, having previously served as a senior equity analyst at Merrill Lynch, Wedbush Morgan and FBR. He has been named a three-time All-Star by The Wall Street Journal's annual Best on the Street analyst ranking, a two-time honoree by Forbes' Best Brokerage Analysts survey, and a five-time honoree by the Thomson Reuters StarMine analyst ranking, where he is currently ranked #3 in the Leisure sector for 2014. Dionisio received a B.A. from Duke University and an M.B.A. from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. He is based in Wunderlich's New York office.

Jeff Birnbaum, CFA, joins Wunderlich from UBS, where he spent seven years in equity research, including the past three years as an analyst covering Master Limited Partnerships. He joins Wunderlich as lead midstream MLP analyst. Birnbaum has covered a number of sectors in his research career, including Food & Drug Retail; Packaged Food; Biofuels; and MLPs. Birnbaum received a B.S. in Applied Economics and Business Management from Cornell University and an M.B.A. in Finance and Economics from NYU Stern. He is also located in the New York office.
