OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Oct. 29, 2014) - Five leading researchers from Canadian universities will be awarded prestigious Impact Awards from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) for their achievements in research, research training, knowledge mobilization and outreach activities in the social sciences and humanities. Funds awarded go towards furthering the winners' highly respected research.
Chosen from among all of the excellent nominations received from eligible postsecondary institutions across Canada, the Impact Awards finalists represent the very best in ideas and research about people, behaviour, human thought, and culture. These researchers help us to understand and improve the world around us, today and into the future.
The Gold Medal winner receives an award of $100,000. The winners in four categories of Talent, Insight, Connection and Partnership will each receive an award of $50,000. The SSHRC Impact Awards demonstrate the Government of Canada's commitment to fostering a culture of excellence in research that has an impact in the lives of all Canadians.
