Food Tech Startup Launches Effortless New Home Dining Experience: "Kitchit Tonight"

Seamless All-in-One Service at Lower Price Point Empowers San Franciscans to Deepen Connections With Their Real Community

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Nov 3, 2014) - San Francisco-based Food Tech startup Kitchit announced today the launch of a new home dining experience at a more accessible and affordable price point called "Kitchit Tonight." This unique service facilitates the home dining experience from start to finish through vetted and professionally trained chefs. Meals are served in a customer's home without the bill that typically accompanies this type of experience in a restaurant -- creating meaningful and memorable moments at home with friends and family.

Now available to San Franciscans who live within the 7x7 San Francisco radius, Kitchit Tonight is available Tuesday through Sunday, offering three signature menus that feature a starter, entrée and dessert. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are also available - all for the price of $39 per person, which is less than the average cost per person at a full-service restaurant. Menu options rotate on a weekly basis and also feature innovative kids menus available for $9 per child. Hosts have the ability to book a dinner for 2-12 people within two weeks of the event date and can book up to the same day at 1pm. Thirty minutes before the first course is served, a Kitchit Academy-certified culinary professional arrives at the customer's home with all of the ingredients, cooks and serves each dish and even cleans up the kitchen afterwards, making the host's sole responsibility to eat and enjoy an uninterrupted meal with friends and family.

"Kitchit's mission has always been focused on strengthening the social fabric of one's community. We believe eating with others enriches our lives and deepens our connections," said Kitchit co-founder and CEO Brendan Marshall. "Kitchit Tonight stays true to our founding mission while expanding the reach of our offering. This new service truly takes dinner 'off your plate,' making dinner with friends and family as easy and accessible as possible."

Kitchit also revealed today the results of a study that surveyed over one thousand Americans between ages 25 to 55 about perceptions and behaviors around cooking and entertaining at home and at restaurants. Key insights uncover interesting trends, including:

  • Craving Connections and Comfort: More than two-thirds of respondents prefer to cook/entertain at home because their home is more comfortable and casual and say their favorite part of hosting a dinner party at home is spending time with guests.
  • In the Kitchen, Time is of the Essence: Nearly 60% say they spend hours planning, shopping, prepping, cooking and cleaning up for family and guests when cook/entertain for dinner parties of three or more.
  • Cut out the Cleaning: 4 out of 5 respondents prefer to dine at a restaurant versus cooking/entertaining at home because they don't have to clean, and 3 out of 5 say cleaning is their least favorite part of hosting a dinner party at home.

"I'm a very social person, but finding time to get out of the house with friends and family for dinner can be nearly impossible with work and other commitments," said Kitchit Tonight user Tiffani Broce. "Kitchit Tonight enables my friends and I to get together and enjoy being with each other without the stress and time involved with shopping, prepping, cooking and cleaning. Plus, the chefs leave your kitchen exactly the way they found it -- it's incredible!"

Kitchit Tonight launches in the San Francisco Bay Area on November 3, 2014, and will be rolling out to additional markets in 2015. For more information on Kitchit Tonight visit: www.kitchit.com.
