Enter Lowers Total Cost of Ownership, Avoids Vendor Lock-In With SwiftStack

SwiftStack's Scalable, Flexible Object Storage Platform Helps Italian Internet Service Provider Stay Competitive With Large Public Cloud Companies

PARIS, FRANCE--(Marketwired - Nov 4, 2014) - Today SwiftStack, the leader in software-defined storage for the cloud, announced that Enter, an Italian-based Internet service provider, has selected SwiftStack as its object storage layer. Using SwiftStack allows Enter to deliver its enterprise customers a flexible, simple and cost-effective cloud storage solution. SwiftStack is fully integrated into the Enter Cloud Suite, Enter's scalable cloud infrastructure platform and the first multi-regional European public cloud service suite based on OpenStack.

As public cloud providers like Google and Amazon dominate market share, the Milan, Italy-based ISP was in need of a flexible, massively scalable object storage layer that could be used internally and as a service for its enterprise-level customers. Enter selected SwiftStack for its low total cost of ownership (TCO), its ease to scale exponentially as the amount of its customers' data increases, and its ability to give Enter freedom from vendor lock-in. This ensures Enter and its customers are not tied to high upfront costs and escalating maintenance fees.

"Enter is committed to OpenStack and was in need of a storage platform that it could use both internally and deliver to its customers across Europe," said Joe Arnold, CEO of SwiftStack. "SwiftStack's enterprise-level scalability, ease-of-use, no vendor lock-in and extremely low TCO provides them with the flexibility its customers need from a cloud storage system."

Enter Cloud Suite's object storage platform is deployed on low-cost commodity servers. Enter runs nine Swift nodes across Milan, Frankfurt and Amsterdam and is part of a single geographically distributed cluster. Users, internally and externally, connecting to the Enter Cloud Suite object storage can access the same objects from any endpoint and SwiftStack's read/write affinity keeps latency low. Enter customers will also soon benefit from SwiftStack's latest features, including those in SwiftStack 2.0, the SwiftStack Filesystem Gateway and storage policies, further reducing TCO and increasing manageability, scalability and performance of their storage system.

"Staying competitive with major cloud players was a huge concern for us and our customers, and most private cloud vendors we looked at just were not able to meet the strict requirements needed to do so," said Mariano Cunietti, CTO, Enter. "The expertise and support provided by SwiftStack convinced us that they were the right choice for both our internal needs and as a component in our Enter Cloud Suite platform."
