Clarity's New Amplified Home Phone Offers Flexibility for Seniors, Allows Users to Make Calls With or Without Landline Connection

The Cordless BT914(TM) Features Clarity's Cellphone at Home(TM) Bluetooth(R) Technology So Users With Hearing Loss Can Enjoy Benefits of Amplified Home Phone -- Crystal Clear Sound, Large Display -- Using Existing Cellphone Service

CHATTANOOGA, TN--(Marketwired - Nov 6, 2014) - People with hearing loss who have dropped landline service to save money but have difficulty hearing on cellphones will find relief in a new amplified home phone released today that allows users to make calls with or without a landline connection. The cordless Clarity BT914™ features Cellphone at Home™, a Bluetooth®-powered technology that allows users to make crystal clear calls on this home phone through landline or wireless service.

Designed by Clarity -- a division of Plantronics (NYSE: PLT) that creates smart communication solutions for seniors -- the BT914™ is the company's first Bluetooth® powered cordless phone. It amplifies incoming sounds up to 40 decibels and is designed specifically to address hearing and vision challenges.

"Some of our customers have landline service while others only have cellphone service, so it was important for us to offer a new amplified home phone that everyone with hearing loss can use," said Carsten Trads, president of Clarity. "For someone with hearing loss who has been struggling to hear on their cellphone, this is a perfect complement. With no extra monthly charge, you can now have clear and understandable conversations. Whether you have landline or wireless service, the BT914 is designed for your unique hearing needs and will dramatically improve phone conversations."

Through a simple setup, Cellphone at Home™ technology easily connects the BT914 to the users' existing cellphone service and allows them to make or receive calls on the cordless phone. BT914 users can also download up to 1,000 contacts from their cellphone.

The BT914™ is equipped with other senior-friendly features, including a large, easy-to-use keypad and an easy-to-read Caller ID display that flashes as a visual ringer. It features adjustable tone control so users can tweak the settings for different degrees of hearing loss. Importantly, it is hearing aid compatible. And it is built with DECT 6.0 interference-free technology.

In addition, the BT914™ has a digital answering machine in its base and a loud and clear speakerphone in its handset. For users that need multiple phones throughout their house, the BT914 is expandable with up to five handsets.

The BT914™ can be purchased for $119.95 on the Clarity website.
