Top-Notch Comedy Performances Coming to Manitoba

Member of Parliament Joyce Bateman announces funding for the Winnipeg Comedy Festival


WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(Marketwired - Nov. 19, 2014) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Government of Canada is providing $100,000 in funding over two years ($50,000 per year) to the Gas Station Arts Centre for its 2015 and 2016 Winnipeg Comedy Festival. The funding is provided through Canadian Heritage's Canada Arts Presentation Fund.

Joyce Bateman, Member of Parliament (Winnipeg South Centre), made this announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

  • The Winnipeg Comedy Festival offers professional comedy performances by Canadian and international artists to rural and urban audiences throughout Manitoba in both official languages.
  • The inaugural festival was held in 2002. Since then it has become the Gas Station Arts Centre's flagship event.
