Edo Japan Community Giving Campaign Makes the Holidays Simply Better

Popular Quick-Service Restaurant Partners With Local Food Banks to Give Back to Community

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Nov. 25, 2014) - Edo Japan, an Alberta-based company known for its fresh and healthy Teppan-style cooking, has taken a 'Simply Better' approach to the holiday season with a community-centric campaign that involves partnerships with local Canadian food banks.

A proud supporter of Canada's food banks, Edo Japan is pleased to be donating to this worthwhile cause for the fifth consecutive year. This year, Edo Japan has the privilege of sharing the heartwarming story of food bank beneficiary, Laurie Jeselon, who was given a healthy head start for her family's future thanks to her local food bank. Laurie's story is currently being shared at www.simplybetter.ca.

Once again, Edo Japan will bring out their good-will holiday ambassadors, the Edo Elves, to support the implementation of their seasonal program. This year, the Edo Elves will be giving away Edo Japan gift cards and inviting customers to sample spring rolls in support of Edo Japan's food bank donation program at Edo Japan restaurants and various other community events in Calgary and Edmonton (throughout the month of December). Patrons can also join in the fun online by keeping an eye out for 'Simply Better' holiday giveaways on Twitter and Facebook as a continuation of Edo Japan's 'Simply Better Moments' fall campaign.

"It was an easy choice for Edo Japan to support an organization that believes in providing people with hope and dignity through something as basic as a meal," said Tom Donaldson, President & CEO, Edo Japan. "It is our hope that our food bank partnerships and Edo Elf giving program will allow us to make this holiday season 'Simply Better' for those who live and work in our communities. At Edo Japan our focus is on connecting with customers by genuinely engaging with them on a personal level and these holiday programs allow us to do just that."

Edo Japan will also be supporting the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank at the 'Amble with Angus' 5k Fun Run on Friday, December 12, 2014. The Angus Run takes place in Calgary every December and donates all proceeds to the city's food bank. An Edo Elf will be in attendance at the run to make the day 'Simply Better' for participants and onlookers with special holiday giveaways.

In an effort to raise $50,000 for food banks across Canada, Edo Japan will be donating 25 cents for every spring roll sold from now until January 4, 2015. With a continued focus on community giving, Edo Japan is thrilled to be supporting the significant efforts of Canadian food banks - four dollars' worth of food is distributed for every dollar donated - while also providing opportunities for the public to make the season brighter for others. Last year Edo Japan was delighted to donate to the Calgary food bank through their holiday fundraising promotion, and they are pleased to have presented food banks across the country with more than $146,000 since 2010.
