VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Dec. 1, 2014) - nTrust, an online and mobile money transfer platform, today announced they will be offering free international money transfer throughout the month of December, helping people around the world send money home for the holidays.

Known to many as the "most wonderful time of the year", the financial stress of the season can actually be difficult for many, especially for those supporting relatives overseas.

With the cost of sending money abroad shockingly high, for example sending money from Canada to the Philippines can cost anywhere from $8 to $20, the G20 recently vowed to lower remittance costs to 5%. Now, nTrust is taking the cost reduction a step further during the month of December, giving the gift of free overseas remittance to Canadian residents.

Using nTrust's online platform or mobile app, senders can sign up for free and send money abroad at no charge during December. Members also have the option to send money directly to a bank account.

"Sending financial support to relatives overseas is a huge part of life for many families in Canada," says nTrust CXO Rod Hsu."Yet, there are so few options for people to send money abroad easily and cheaply, even though the technology exists to do so. This is actually one of the reasons nTrust first came into being - to help solve this inequity."

While the complimentary promotion is limited to the month of December, year-round nTrust offers flat rate international money transfers for $4.99, or direct to a bank account for $7.99.

The company introduced this lower rate in 2014 in line with the World Bank's "5X5" Objective, aimed at lowering the cost of overseas remittance fees from 10% to 5% to put up to $16 billion back in the pockets of families sending money overseas.
