Law Firm Promotes Eight Associates to Counsel


WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - Jan 6, 2015) - BuckleySandler LLP announced today that Paige Ammons, Kari K. Hall, Brian P. Kelly, Mehul N. Madia, Jennifer A. Slagle Peck, Ryan S. Pollard and John B. Williams III, residents in the firm's Washington, DC office, and Jonathan W. Cannon, resident in the firm's Los Angeles office, have been promoted to Counsel, effective January 1, 2015. These promotions follow the May 2014 promotions of Benjamin K. Olson, Amanda Raines Lawrence and Lauren R. Randell to Partner.

Paige Ammons represents corporate and individual clients in civil and criminal enforcement cases, including white-collar criminal defense matters, securities enforcement defense and environmental criminal defense. Prior to joining BuckleySandler, she clerked for the Honorable James Robertson of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. She received a J.D. from New York University School of Law, cum laude (2007) and a B.A. from the University of North Carolina (2004).

Jonathan W. Cannon advises financial institutions, including, financial services companies, mortgage companies, mortgage servicers, banks, securities broker-dealers and others on federal and state regulations, including consumer credit laws and regulations. He also counsels clients on UDAP/UDAAP compliance, multi-state licensing issues, state-law compliance programs and alternative mortgage transactions. In addition, Cannon provides clients with advice on conducting fair lending analyses and developing fair lending compliance programs. He received a J.D. from the University of Virginia (2006), an M.A. from Middlebury College (2001) and a B.A. from Colby College, magna cum laude (1996).

Kari K. Hall counsels financial services companies on a variety of regulatory compliance and risk management matters, with a focus on fair lending, fair servicing, UDAAP, Community Reinvestment Act, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, deposit account and electronic card issues. Hall represents clients in internal reviews and investigations, as well as examinations, investigations and enforcement actions by both federal and state regulators. She received a J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law (2003) and a B.S. from Miami University (1996).

Brian P. Kelly represents corporate and individual clients in criminal and complex civil litigation, internal investigations, government enforcement actions and appellate matters. In 2014, he helped to achieve a $554 million landmark settlement on behalf of the Navajo Nation, the largest settlement obtained in any action by a single Tribe against the U.S. Kelly received a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School, with honors (2007) and a B.A. from Saint Louis University, magna cum laude (2004).

Mehul N. Madia represents corporate and individual clients in litigation and enforcement matters, including complex civil litigation and class actions, government enforcement actions, internal investigations and white-collar criminal defense matters. He has represented clients in matters involving the U.S. Department of Justice, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the New York Department of Financial Services and various State Attorneys Generals. Following law school, Madia clerked for the Honorable Rhesa H. Barksdale of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He received a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School (2005) and a B.A. from the University of Michigan (2000).

Jennifer A. Slagle Peck represents financial services industry clients in a wide range of litigation matters, including class actions, internal investigations and government enforcement actions. She has represented clients in matters involving the Department of Justice, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and numerous federal and state courts. Following law school, she clerked for the Honorable Roger L. Wollman of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and the Honorable Louis F. Oberdorfer of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. She received a J.D. from the American University, Washington College of Law, summa cum laude, Order of the Coif (2007) and a B.A. from the University of Minnesota (2002).

Ryan S. Pollard represents financial services industry clients in a wide range of corporate and transactional matters. During law school he completed internships with both the Securities & Exchange Commission and the Maryland Fifth District Court. He received a J.D. from George Washington University, with honors (2006) and a B.S. from the University of Maryland, College Park (2001).

John B. Williams represents financial industry clients in a wide range of enforcement and litigation matters involving banking laws, government investigations, contract disputes and lending laws. He has also done extensive pro bono work, including wrongful conviction cases, Social Security appeals and parole hearings. During law school, he completed an externship as a clerk in the Office of the Public Defender in Montgomery County, Maryland. He received a J.D. from the American University, Washington College of Law, summa cum laude, Order of the Coif (2007) and a B.A. from Vanderbilt University, magna cum laude (2004).
