CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Jan. 6, 2015) - To date, generous Calgarians have brought the 2014 CBC Calgary Suncor Energy Food Bank Drive to a total of $1,339,436 in food and funds.

The annual food drive was launched on December 1, with a goal of raising $1 million for the Calgary Food Bank. "We are so grateful to CBC and Suncor for leading the charge to raise these funds again this year. While we continue to work toward this goal, our true goal is to ensure we are continuing to do the work that Calgarians want us to do," James McAra CEO of The Calgary Food Bank said. "We help people with food but, most importantly, we provide information - information that will lead them to resources to address the root causes of their food insecurity. Helping people feel safe, secure and leading them to more help is the best way to ensure a brighter future."

"The donations collected helped to make the holidays a little brighter and will provide support to those struggling with hunger throughout the year."

Since 1985 the CBC Calgary Suncor Energy Food Bank Drive has raised $15 million for the Calgary Food Bank. The 2013 campaign total was $1,348,124 in food and funds.
