Jeanne Pratt Appointed Senior Deputy Commissioner of Competition of the Mergers Branch


OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Jan. 8, 2015) - Competition Bureau

John Pecman, Commissioner of Competition, is pleased to announce that Jeanne Pratt has been appointed to the position of Senior Deputy Commissioner of the Mergers Branch effective January 16, 2015.

Ms. Pratt first joined the Bureau in 2009 as Special Legal Advisor to the Commissioner where she provided strategic input on a range of issues, including the conduct of litigation. In 2011, Jeanne was appointed to the position of Assistant Deputy Commissioner, Division B, of the Criminal Matters Branch. She most recently served in the position of Associate Deputy Commissioner, Criminal Matters Branch.

Jeanne has been a valued member of the Bureau's management team, enabling the Bureau to benefit from her extensive competition law background and experience as counsel representing clients in Competition Act matters.

Jeanne replaces Lisa Campbell who first joined the Bureau in 2010. Lisa has accepted the position of Assistant Deputy Minister, Acquisitions Branch, at Public Works and Government Services Canada.

Quick Facts

  • Before joining the Bureau, Jeanne was a partner with the law firm McCarthy Tétrault LLP, where she practiced exclusively in the area of competition law and litigation. Jeanne advised clients on all aspects of competition law, including mergers, criminal matters, reviewable practices and deceptive marketing practices.

  • Jeanne obtained her B.A. in Political Science from Memorial University, and her LL.B. from the University of New Brunswick. She was called to the Ontario bar in 1999.
