Support for Quebec Communities: Municipality of Stornoway Receives Funding

STORNOWAY, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Jan. 8, 2015) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, the Honourable Christian Paradis, Member of Parliament for Mégantic-L'Érable, Minister of International Development and Minister for La Francophonie today announced that the Municipality of Stornoway has been granted funding to renovate its community centre.

This assistance has been awarded in the form of a $27,875 non-repayable financial contribution through the Local Investment Initiative (LII), a component of CED's Quebec Economic Development Program.

Quick facts

• The funding will enable the Municipality of Stornoway to repair the building's roof, chimney and foundation, change railings, doors and electric panels as well as add a fire alarm system.
• The LII, a temporary initiative specific to CED, helps to promote economic development capacity-building for the long-term benefit of Quebec communities.
• This initiative stimulates local investment while ensuring citizens have access to safer and more functional community halls that are better suited to their needs.
