LifeLearn Sofie(TM) Wins Two Awards at 2015 International CES(R)

Cognitive Computing Decision-Support Tool Recognized for Innovation in Pet Health

GUELPH, Ontario, Jan. 8, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- LifeLearn Inc., a company devoted to mobilizing knowledge in the animal health industry, announced today that its LifeLearn Sofie application has received two Everyday Health Awards for Innovation at the Digital Health Summit during the 2015 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, NV, in the Pet Health and Audience Choice categories.

The Everyday Health Awards for Innovation recognize companies and individuals tackling some of the world's most pressing problems in extraordinary ways. Announced each year at CES, one of the highest profile conferences in the world, this award plays a significant role in helping to usher digital health forward, facilitate discussions, and honor the achievements in health and wellness technology.

The Pet Health category awards products designed for the veterinary/animal health industry, and the Audience Choice award is given to the product that rated highest through online voting, which took place from November, 2014 through early January, 2015.

"Winning these awards is a testament to LifeLearn's team of veterinarians and developers that have been working day and night to create the first cognitive computing application for animal health," said Dr. Mark Stephenson, chief veterinarian, LifeLearn. "We are proud to be pushing the boundaries of innovation to help veterinary teams efficiently access information in real time, ultimately improving healthcare outcomes for pets."

Developed in partnership with IBM Watson, the LifeLearn Sofie intelligent support tool processes language naturally rather than requiring certain keywords. Veterinarians simply type a question for Sofie and, in mere seconds, she uses the cognitive computing capabilities of IBM Watson to scan through hundreds of thousands of pages of medical resources to return relevant, objective, and evidence-based treatment options. Sofie seamlessly incorporates the cumulative wealth of veterinary literature into everyday practice, which will ultimately assist in providing better patient outcomes.

LifeLearn is planning to launch Sofie early in 2015. For more information, visit sofie.lifelearn.com.
