SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - January 13, 2015) - StackIQ, the leader in Web-scale IT automation for the enterprise, today announced the creation of the StackIQ Technical Advisory Committee (STAC), a group of industry leaders and pioneers in data center technologies united to advance complete server automation for Web-scale IT ops. STAC will be co-chaired by Taner Halicioglu, founder of Keshif Ventures and formerly with Facebook, Blizzard and Opsware, and Greg Bruno, Ph.D., vice president of engineering at StackIQ. Both co-chairs have deep real-world expertise in the design and deployment of large-scale, distributed systems.

"The massive growth of data has forced traditional IT to rethink the underlying infrastructure so that it continues to drive innovation at scale," said Taner Halicioglu, founder, Keshif Ventures. "Under increasing pressure to capture, move and analyze this tsunami of Big Data to draw business insights, major efforts are underway to bring highly scalable, clustered servers into production to address these needs. Yet, these distributed systems are exponentially more complex to build, run and manage than traditional systems. This is, in essence, what STAC is chartered to help solve."

StackIQ's chief offering, StackIQ Cluster Manager is unsurpassed for enabling full stack automation for building, deploying and managing highly distributed Big Data and cloud applications such as those processed on Hadoop. Further, the flexibility afforded by StackIQ's deep integrations with all of the major Hadoop distributions and cloud platforms such as OpenStack have made it the popular choice for DevOps seeking accelerated time-to-market for new services.

"Enterprises are aiming to scale their infrastructures while accelerating time-to-market for critical applications and services. The amount of manual tasks required to get such an infrastructure up-and-running is daunting," states Tim McIntire, co-founder and CEO, StackIQ. "For new technologies, we believe customers derive significant value by working together with vendors as well as their IT ops peers. Our involvement with STAC is a major step in that direction."

Halicioglu and Bruno will co-chair the committee. Both are technology veterans who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in large-scale infrastructure management. All founding members bring unique infrastructure perspectives and authority. Included among the full committee of experts are Larry Haecherl (Verizon Wireless), Joseph McDonald (Alcatel-Lucent) and Mason Katz, co-founder and CTO, StackIQ.

StackIQ Technical Advisory Committee (STAC) is scheduled to meet biannually and the inaugural meeting will take place January 15, 2015.
