Veteran Backhaul Radio Engineer Jeff Rivard Joins LightPointe

Position Adds to LightPointe's Capabilities in RF Design and New Product Development

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - Jan 27, 2015) - LightPointe, a leading manufacturer of Gigabit capacity outdoor point-to-point wireless bridges, announced that Jeff Rivard has joined the company as director of engineering, radio solutions. Previously, he spent 14 years with Solectek Corporation, most recently as director of engineering and lead RF design engineer.

"We are excited that an individual with such an acclaimed record of radio frequency product development has joined our RF engineering department," said Dr. Heinz Willebrand, CEO of LightPointe. "Jeff's experience with point-to-point and point-to-multipoint radios is already being put to use on several backhaul solution projects in development. Engineers of this caliber simply don't change jobs very often, especially in San Diego, which has become world-renowned for advanced radio and cellular companies, and innovative products. Jeff brings to LightPointe hands-on design capabilities in many RF product categories and frequency bands, including 70/80 GHz E-Band, 60 GHz V-Band, 2.4 GHz, 3.5 GHz, 5.8 GHz, and 6 to 8.5 GHz licensed band communications systems. He also has deep knowledge of MMIC chips and circuit design, as well as testing and quality programs. Jeff's background in terrestrial and satellite communications systems will be an invaluable asset as LightPointe continues to grow."

Jeff Rivard resides in the San Diego area and will work at LightPointe's San Diego headquarters. He graduated from the University of Montreal with an MSEE in RF/Microwave Engineering and BSEE in Electronics/Communications Systems.

"I'm honored to join LightPointe, which in addition to its legacy in laser communications has now also become a leading manufacturer of radio frequency backhaul solutions," said Jeff Rivard, director of engineering for LightPointe. "After I saw the projects LightPointe has in development for 2015, it was an easy decision to sign on and be part of a team of very motivated innovators wanting to further shake things up in the wireless industry. And I also like LightPointe's strategy of offering customers a broad range of both Free Space Optics and RF solutions, which is unique in the industry, as both technologies have their advantages."

LightPointe's solutions will be on display at the CeBIT IT tradeshow March 16 through 20 in Hannover, Germany (LightPointe booth, Hall 13, D89).
