Charlotte Metro Credit Union Highlights Its Not-for-Profit Value in New 2015 Ad Campaign

First Ad to Air During The Big Game on February 1

CHARLOTTE, NC--(Marketwired - Jan 30, 2015) - Charlotte Metro Federal Credit Union (CMCU), a full-service, not-for-profit financial institution based in Charlotte, today announced the release of its 2015 ad campaign which will first air during The Big Game on February 1. CMCU is among the only local Charlotte organizations to run an ad during The Big Game this year.

Furthering its tradition of releasing new TV spots during The Big Game, CMCU continues its humorous advertising edge with an ad that features Mr. Ruffington, a "Fat Cat" banker, who is surprised to learn he is losing customers to the not-for-profit CMCU. The ad pokes at the impersonal approach often taken by larger banking institutions and emphasizes why Charlotte consumers select CMCU, and its great rates and lower fees, over "Big Banks."

"It's important for Charlotte consumers to know that they have a better banking option," said Bob Bruns, President and CEO, CMCU. "With our 2015 ad campaign, we are emphasizing our value over larger institutions which have higher cost, more fees and lack the personal service that is our organization's hallmark. By adding humor to our message, we expect these ads to have a strong impact on the Charlotte community."

The CMCU campaign will run throughout the spring including TV spots as well as radio, outdoor and online ads.

The 2015 ads follow other successful campaigns the credit union has developed in previous years. Last year's "Mobile Whenever Banking. Mobile Wherever Banking" ad theme highlighted CMCU's mobile services. CMCU's most memorable campaign, the "Bank Fee Pig," featured a series of ads where a woman totes around her pig, constantly feeding it money for her bank fees. The "Don't Get Suckered" campaign showed a man dressed in a three-piece suit, representing a traditional banker, sucking money out of unsuspecting people's wallets to increase profits.
