Saint-Felicien Celebrates its 150th Anniversary

Government of Canada provides support for commemorative project

SAINT-FÉLICIEN, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Jan. 30, 2015) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Government of Canada is providing $500,000 to Saint-Félicien for La Place du 150e. This funding is being provided under Canadian Heritage's Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program.

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

  • Saint-Félicien was founded in 1865.
  • To commemorate this anniversary, Saint-Félicien's Maison de la culture will be transformed into La Place du 150e. The building's facades will be renovated and the exterior site redeveloped.
  • La Place du 150e will showcase Saint-Félicien's heritage and its cultural and tourist attractions, as well as any events related to its history and foundation.
  • The site will also provide a venue where various performances and activities will be presented free of charge to the public.
