ISLA MUJERES, MEXICO--(Marketwired - Feb. 5, 2015) - Having Almas Jiwani, President of UN Women Canada President, give the keynote address on March 8, International Women's Day is both timely and symbolic. The goals of the conference align perfectly with those of the organization that proclaimed March 8th 'UN Day for Women's Rights and World Peace." There is no better person than Almas Jiwani to speak on the subject of women moving forward, and the distance still to go.
"Gender, age, race, or any binary by which we define ourselves, has to ultimately give way to the inherent equality of each individual, said "Almas Jiwani said. "'The Power of One' is a celebration of our differences and also of this fundamental equality between us."
"As an accomplished and inspirational spokeswoman who has inspired women to take action on a world-wide scale, it is also symbolic for Almas Jiwani to speak to the topic of "The Power of One", on the Island of Women. It is on this sacred Mayan island that the power of women has always been recognized and revered" said Janeen Halliwell. "I envision both enlightenment and further engagement in the future direction of women as a result of Almas Jiwani's talk. We are honoured to have her."
Overview of We Move Forward Conference
We Move Forward International Women's Day Conference is an annual event that fittingly takes place on the Island of Women (Isla Mujeres), Mexico.
Women from North America and beyond attend We Move Forward to be part of a wave of positive change, both individually and collectively. Speakers from a range of backgrounds provide attendees with inspirational talks, followed by engaging group discussions and activities. Through this process, the women who attend We Move Forward shift from being inspired, to taking action.
We Move Forward's goal of empowering women has an impressive local impact - women from Isla Mujeres are sponsored to attend, and a portion of every registration goes to a local education fund for Isla Mujeres youth.
