Federman & Sherwood Announces Filing of Federal Class Action Lawsuit Against Anthem Inc. for Consumer Data Security Breach

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK--(Marketwired - Feb 8, 2015) - On February 5, 2015, a class action lawsuit was filed on behalf of several consumers against Anthem, Inc. (NYSE: ANTM) ("Anthem"). The Complaint alleges that Anthem failed to meet its legal obligation to protect consumers' personal identifiable information including names, birthdays, medical IDs/social security numbers, street addresses, email addresses and employment information, including income.

On February 4, 2015, Anthem announced that hackers broke into a database containing personal information of about 80 million of its customers and employees in what is likely to be the largest data breach disclosed by a health-care company. Additionally, on February 6, 2015, Anthem warns its U.S. customers about an email scam targeting former and current members whose personal information was suspected to have been breached in the massive cyber attack.

On behalf of themselves and all class members, Plaintiffs seek injunctive relief and damages suffered by class members as a result of Anthem's actions, including alleged violations of data breach statutes. If you have information or have been affected as a result of Anthem's data security breach, please contact:
