Naxos's Distributed Label Partners Win Five GRAMMY(R) Awards


FRANKLIN, TN--(Marketwired - Feb 8, 2015) - Artists, composers and engineers from five Naxos-distributed labels won awards at the 57th annual GRAMMY® Awards ceremony at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.

Guitarist Jason Vieaux won Best Classical Instrumental Solo for Play, released on the Azica label (ACD-71287).

Mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie Von Otter and her accompanist Bengt Forsberg earned the Best Classical Solo Vocal Album award for Douce France, released on the Naïve label (V5343). 

The Best Contemporary Classical Composition GRAMMY® was given to John Luther Adams for his composition Become Ocean, released on the Cantaloupe label (CA21101), and performed by Ludovic Morlot and the Seattle Symphony.

Best Engineered Album, Classical, was won by Michael Bishop who engineered the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra CD of three works by Ralph Vaughan-Williams: Dona Nobis Pacem, Symphony No. 4, and The Lark Ascending. (ASO Media ASO1005). The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus were directed by Robert Spano.

Boston Early Music Festival and their Co-Directors Paul O'Dette and Stephen Stubbs received the Best Opera Recording GRAMMY® for their recording on the CPO label of Marc-Antoine Charpentier's opera La Descente D'Orphée Aux Enfers (CPO 777876-2).
