Calling All Indie Game Developers: FunPlus Seeks the Best to Win the IndiePlus Game Contest

Held During GDC 2015, Winning Indie Developer to Receive Grand Prize of $10,000

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Feb 11, 2015) - The FunPlus Group today announced that it is hosting its first mobile game competition, the IndiePlus Contest, starting today and running through February 20. The winners will be announced at an event during the Game Developer's Conference (GDC) on March 3, with the grand prize winner receiving a $10,000 prize. Competitors may visit http://funplus.com/indieplusrules.html for more details, rules and submission information.

Submissions will be judged by a panel of indie gaming legends comprised of:

  • Adam "Atomic" Saltsman (Canabalt, Hundreds)
  • Louis Castle (Dragon Strike, Boom Blox, Blade Runner)
  • Rami Ismael (Ridiculous Fishing)
  • Nathan Vella (Superbrothers: Sword & Sorcery EP, Super Time Force)
  • Andy Zhong, CEO, FunPlus.

Game submissions will be judged on user experience and "fun" above all else. The goal is to celebrate the art form of gaming and reinforce FunPlus' belief that great games, exciting content and engagement, and terrific customer service is the key to success in mobile. Judges will consider innovation in design, tech, sound, and multiplayer and how these positively affect the player experience on a mobile device.

"FunPlus has established a name for itself in creating globally appealing, innovative games that put players first. We believe that fun is universal and games can transcend cultural barriers," said FunPlus founder and CEO Andy Zhong, "In celebration of this explosive industry, we are thrilled to present the FunPlus IndiePlus Contest in hopes of discovering the next great indie developer and game."

"FunPlus is pleased to host IndiePlus to showcase and support the deep pool of indie development talent on mobile," said FunPlus' head of business development Greg Essig, "We are looking for the games that best exemplify the FunPlus philosophy, which is focused on creating a great player experience first and designing distinctly for the platform they play on."

The contest is open to indie studios comprised of teams with 30 or fewer members who own at least 75% of the showcased game IP themselves. All submissions must be in a completed, playable form on either iOS and/or Android. FunPlus will require eight to ten total builds of all submissions via Apple's TestFlight or Hockey App (no pure.ipa/.apk files allowed).
