Tax Service Helps Navigate Tax Benefits Under Obama's Executive Action

SiempreTax+ Helps Hispanic Community Navigate New Tax Laws, Refund Opportunities

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA--(Marketwired - Feb 12, 2015) - Liberty Tax, Inc. (NASDAQ: TAX)

Changes to federal immigration policy could mean new benefits for immigrants and undocumented workers, and a new challenge for tax preparers. SiempreTax+, a national tax preparation brand with locations across the United States, is the first of its kind to address the impact of tax laws on the Hispanic community, including recent immigrants and Spanish-speaking workers.

Undocumented immigrants who could qualify to remain in the United States under President Obama's executive action may be eligible to collect tax benefits, namely the Earned Income Tax Credit, or EIC, a credit designed for low-income working individuals with families. Undocumented workers who filed taxes with an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, or ITIN, may also be eligible.

"This is one of many tax filing matters that impact immigrants and Spanish-speaking workers, and one of the many issues that are addressed by the comprehensive services SiempreTax+ offers as part of our commitment to serve our customers' unique needs," said Carlos Perez, COO of SiempreTax+.

SiempreTax+ tailors its services for Hispanic and Spanish-speaking workers, offering assistance with state and federal applications. In addition to tax preparation, SiempreTax+ services include driver's license assistance, notary services and immigration help. The company helps non-citizens apply for an ITIN at no charge. The ITIN offers a means to obtaining a credit card or opening a bank account. Perhaps even more important, the ITIN, along with filing taxes each year, helps establish a record of residency in the United States. SiempreTax+ also offers assistance in understanding the Affordable Care Act (ACA), and will host ACA seminars with Spanish materials available to address these and other situations most likely to affect SiempreTax+ customers.

"As laws change to include new immigrants and other workers, and the U.S. Hispanic population grows, the need for reliable tax preparation to serve this community grows as well," said SiempreTax+ Founder and Liberty Tax CEO John T. Hewitt. "The Siempre brand -- whose name means 'always' -- is addressing an unmet need for customer-focused and knowledgable tax service in this fast-growing community."

With more than 37 million Spanish speakers in the United States, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, Spanish is the most spoken non-English language in the country.

Taxpayers have until Wednesday, April 15, 2015, to file their 2014 tax returns and pay any tax due. This year's return will include new questions to incorporate provisions of the ACA. As an incentive to file by the tax deadline, and a show of appreciation, SiempreTax+ is offering customers $50 Cash-in-a-Flash and a $50 Send-A-Friend bonus if they refer a customer.
