Sunwing Collaborates With Government of Canada to Ensure Vacationers Travel Smart This Winter

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - February 13, 2015) - As we head into the Family Day weekend and with March Break just around the corner, the busiest travel weeks for Canadians looking to exchange the chill of winter with a sunshine break in the Caribbean, Florida or Mexico are just around the corner.

To ensure vacationers remember to pack more than just sunscreen, Sunwing Vacations has teamed up with the Government of Canada to help pass on the latest travel tips to its customers. Purchasing the right travel insurance and checking what vaccinations are needed ahead of any trip are equally important as pre-booking excursions and deciding on what to pack for your vacation.

With this in mind, Sunwing Vacations has enhanced the information provided to its customers on sunwing.ca and blog.sunwing.ca to ensure their vacations are hassle free. In addition, the travel company is also providing a handy link to access the Government of Canada's free registration sign-up page where customers can share their travel plans with the local consulate in their vacation destination in order that they receive the most up to date information before their trip and easily receive support if need be during their stay. The company has lent its support to the set-up of interactive mobile travel advice booths at Toronto Pearson International Airport and Ottawa International Airport over the weekend of February 13-15, 2015, where the Government of Canada will assist passengers with any questions they may have prior to travel.

Andrew Dawson, Chief Operating Officer for the Sunwing Travel Group, commented, "Helping to ensure our customers have all the information they need to enjoy a hassle-free vacation is just as important to us as assisting them in choosing the resort and destination that's right for them. So, we are happy to work closely with the Government of Canada on this initiative."

Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State (Foreign Affairs and Consular), added, "Through Canada's 21st Century Consular Plan, the Government of Canada is modernizing its approach to the delivery of consular services by developing tips and tools to better assist Canadian travellers. I would like to congratulate Sunwing on their work with Canadian travellers to assist with safe and smart travel. By working with Sunwing and other airline partners, we are improving the international traveller experience."
