The International Solid State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) AMD session, "A 28nm x86 APU Optimized for Power and Area Efficiency" will outline features of the upcoming "Carrizo" Accelerated Processing Unit (APU), including:

• CPU, graphics, and multimedia performance enhancements through new "Excavator" x86 CPU cores and AMD Radeon™ GPUs based on the Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture
• Power efficient technologies designed to deliver improved battery life and performance-per-watt
• High-density design delivering 29 percent more transistors than its predecessor "Kaveri" at nearly the same chip size
• First processor designed to meet the Heterogeneous System Architecture (HSA) 1.0 specification developed by the HSA Foundation, enabling easier programming and greater application performance at low power consumption
