HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwired - Feb 17, 2015) - COR Medical Technologies (COR), which offers CORcare™, a comprehensive instant decision support system for rapid and accurate diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up management of patients with acute and chronic, common and rare diseases involving the cardiovascular system, is pleased to announce a partnership with Elsevier to update and expand The American Journal of Cardiology's (AJC) Heart Failure Resource Center. This collaboration with Elsevier provides real-time updates from CORcare on the latest clinical guidelines and new advances in the diagnosis and treatment of heart failure. It also adds multimedia features, and offers healthcare professionals continuing education credit for select content and free access to a CORchapter™ on Heart Failure and Cardiomyopathies. The Heart Failure Resource Center is available at http://education.ajconline.org/heart-failure-resource-center.

In addition to select articles from Elsevier-published journals, the Heart Failure Resource Center now includes new content from audio discussions and videos of specific heart failure topics, PowerPoint presentations, and roundtable exchanges from noted heart failure experts. It will be made available to a targeted online audience of more than 550,000 healthcare professionals across multiple disciplines: cardiology, primary care, emergency medicine, and nurse practitioners.

CME credit will be offered through an accredited provider allowing for a multimedia forum to keep health professionals abreast of the latest advances in treating heart disease from leading specialists on COR's Senior Editorial Board. Experts and topics include Dr. Brian Olshansky, who will cover Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy; Dr. Gregg Fonarow, who will discuss Diabetes Mellitus; Dr. Jeffrey Schussler, who will cover Ischemic vs. Non-Ischemic Cardiomyopathy; and Dr. Gregg Stone who will give a presentation on Secondary Mitral Regurgitation in Heart Failure.

The Heart Failure Resource Center is Open Access and includes an informational video on CORcare's complete, interactive heart disease decision support system, which is available by annual or monthly subscription. CORcare also includes patient case logs, telemedicine and research registry platforms, and continuing education. The free CORchapter on Heart Failure and Cardiomyopathies provides one example of the more than 150 diseases and conditions that comprise CORcare. Access to the CORchapter is available at the Heart Failure Resource Center or www.cormedtec.com.

"We are thrilled to partner with The American Journal of Cardiology on the newly redesigned Heart Failure Resource Center and offer Elsevier viewers free access to CORcare," said COR Founder and CEO Vincent Friedewald, M.D., F.A.C.C. "Heart failure is among the most complex cardiovascular conditions today, and we look forward to providing a place where healthcare professionals can find the most up-to-date information about treatments for heart failure patients in the pursuit of better outcomes."

Executive Multimedia Editor, Brian Jenkins, of Elsevier Multimedia Publishing said, "Having worked with Dr. Friedewald, I know that his unique skills as a cardiologist, author, and designer of large databases of information (like COR and Infectious Syndromic Surveillance for government agencies) will help produce a robust Resource Center that will benefit clinicians across multiple disciplines."
