Sectra signs long-term contract with Karolinska University Hospital in Sweden to deliver radiology IT service

Sectra (STO: SECT B (http://www.sectra.com)) has signed a new multi-year
contract with Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm, which has purchased a
fully managed service for efficient handling of radiology images and patient
information (RIS and PACS). The order value amounts to SEK 207 million (approx.
EUR 21.8 million).
Karolinska University Hospital is one of Europe’s largest university clinics.
Sectra has supplied medical IT systems to Karolinska University Hospital for
more than 15 years. This service replaces, among other things, the earlier
system that Sectra supplied and for which it has a service agreement with
Karolinska University Hospital. The new service also includes RIS and such new
functions as dose monitoring, statistics tools and advanced volume
visualization.

“Close and long-term partnerships with demanding and highly productive customers
such as Karolinska University Hospital are the reason for our radiology IT
systems receiving top marks from our customers throughout the world,” says Ann
-Sofi Mikaelsson, President of Sectra Sverige AB. “Being entrusted by Karolinska
to supply these critical operational services demonstrates that Sectra is a
reliable partner and that our solutions are stable and offer the functionality
and performance required for providing high-quality and safe patient care.”

“For Karolinska University Hospital, long-term partnership is important for
achieving an efficient and purpose-designed service. Accordingly, this was a
linchpin in the procurement process that preceded the agreement we have now
signed with Sectra. The partnership requires that the service has the
possibility to be continuously developed,” state Lars Johansson, project owner
and system owner for RIS/PACS, Main Divisions, and Johan Henriksson, assistant
senior consultant and section head of the Karolinska University Hospital Solna
Radiology Clinic.

The service is the first of its kind in Sweden, with the supplier assuming total
responsibility for technology, administration and service of the hospital’s
radiology IT systems.

Through its agreement with Karolinska University Hospital, Sectra has taken a
new step, with PACS being packaged together with RIS and other components to
form a comprehensive service with high demands on availability, performance and
safety.
