Pyka Lenhardt Schnaider Zell Reveals Risks of Uninsured Motorists

Local Legal Experts Shed Light on California's Uninsured Motorist Issue and Offer Solutions

SANTA ANA, CA--(Marketwired - Feb 18, 2015) - According to a 2014 study by the Insurance Research Council, California has the highest population of uninsured motorists in the U.S. with research reflecting a whopping 4.1 million drivers hitting the road each day sans any form of insurance -- a problem that ultimately creates a minefield of risk each and every time drivers hit the road.

Pyka Lenhardt Schnaider Zell (PLSZ) partner, Guillermo Schnaider has handled numerous uninsured and underinsured motorist cases during his 40 years in practice. Schnaider says California auto insurance companies are statutorily obligated to provide uninsured motorist bodily injury (UMBI) coverage. And for those California drivers who do actually carry auto insurance, most fall victim to the false sense of security this insurance can provide.

"What most drivers fail to realize is that their UMBI coverage may provide them with inadequate protection, which may not come close to compensating them for a serious injury caused by an uninsured or an under-insured driver," Schnaider says.

As consumers look to purchase new cars or review coverage plans, Schnaider warns it is critical they take important precautions to protect themselves and their families and consider bumping up their coverage to prevent future losses.

"Education is the key to solving this problem and saving thousands of dollars for victims in crashes," adds Schnaider.

Schnaider recommends motorists look into the terms of their policies and talk to a licensed agent about UMBI coverage.
