Museum on the Boyne Marks Centennial With Upgrades: Government of Canada Supports Building Renovations


NEW TECUMSETH, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - March 14, 2015) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Town of New Tecumseth is receiving $25,000 in funding under the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program for the renovation of the century-old building that houses the Museum on the Boyne.

The Honourable Dr. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women and Member of Parliament (Simcoe-Grey), announced the funding today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

Quick Facts

  • The Agricultural Fair Building opened in 1914 and was transformed into a community museum in 1960. The building currently houses the Museum on the Boyne.
  • Renovations to the Museum will include the installation of a humidification system, new flooring in the programming room and protective panels on the windows. The electrical panels will be updated, and hardwood floors in the main gallery refinished. The attic will also be transformed into a storage area for artifacts.
  • The Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in activities that present local arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage.
