Sighthound Launches VISI for Facebook

New Computer Vision Application Scans Videos You Upload to Facebook and Provides a FaceGrid of the People in Them for You to Share

MENLO PARK, CA--(Marketwired - Mar 19, 2015) - Sighthound, Inc. today announced the release of Sighthound VISI for Facebook, a cloud service that provides a visual synopsis of who is in videos you post to your Facebook page. When you share the video, your friends see a FaceGrid of who is in it without having to watch the whole video.

Sighthound VISI is the latest project by the Sighthound Labs computer vision research center, and is designed to demonstrate some of the advanced computer vision technologies Sighthound is bringing to market. VISI illustrates the ability to see human faces at distance, track faces through a scene, extract the best view of the face, and group faces of the same person together, all in real time.

"VISI for Facebook is a fun application for those who want to know if it is worth watching videos posted to their page, but the technology behind it has serious applications in a wide range of fields," said Sighthound CEO Stephen Neish. "Facebook already has the capability to auto-tag friends in photos. VISI takes face detection into video." In January 2015 Facebook reported that there are over three billion videos viewed on Facebook each day.

Sighthound is already established in the market with Sighthound Sentry, a person detector for security and automation purposes, and Sighthound Video, home and business video security software that uses computer vision to replace motion detectors.

The Sighthound VISI demonstration is free to use at www.sighthound.com/labs/visi.
