College Football Hall of Famer Don McPherson to Headline Center for Community Solutions' 16th Annual Tea & Tonic Event

Annual Event Increases Public Awareness of Sexual Assault & Domestic Violence While Raising Much-Needed Funds to Support Diverse Prevention and Intervention Services

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - Mar 20, 2015) - Center for Community Solutions (CCS), a non-profit agency that offers a complete range of sexual assault, domestic violence, and elder abuse prevention and intervention services, announced that its annual "Tea & Tonic" event will be held on Friday, April 24th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at The Grand Del Mar. The benefit event is sponsored by Nordstrom, Riviera Magazine, HD Supply Facilities Maintenance, the California Endowment and is being held in observance of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

CCS welcomes Don McPherson as the celebrity keynote speaker. Best known for his accolades on the field as a quarterback for Syracuse University and in the NFL, Don has since made a name for himself as a motivational speaker. For more than 30 years, Don has used the power and appeal of sport to address complex social justice issues. Since 1986, he has delivered school and community-based programs addressing everything from drunk driving and drug abuse to youth leadership and mentoring. But after retiring from the NFL in 1995, McPherson turned his focus to the issue of "men's violence against women" and emerged as a national leader and advocate for the prevention of sexual and domestic violence.

Event Chairs, Cyndi Benson & Terri Kelly, long-time supporters and volunteers of CCS, invite you to join us for an unforgettable & meaningful "high tea," followed by a VIP reception, "Tonic After Tea."

"Tea & Tonic" also offers CCS an outstanding platform from which to raise overall awareness of and much-needed funds for all its various types of assistance. Net proceeds from the event will be used toward CCS' full range of domestic violence and sexual assault crisis intervention programs, including emergency response teams, a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelters, victim advocacy, transitional housing programs, court accompaniment, clinical services and legal services.

Tickets for the 2015 "Tea & Tonic" start at $150 per person with table sponsorships available starting at $1,500. Tickets can be purchased online at www.ccssd.org. For more information, contact CCS at 858-272-5777, ext. 120.
