Goodman's Fourth Annual Interlink Magic Mile Charity Ramp Run Raises a Record HK$1 Million for Feeding Hong Kong

HONG KONG, CHINA--(Marketwired - Mar 22, 2015) - Goodman Group (Goodman or Group), the global integrated property group which owns, develops and manages industrial space, today raised HK$1 million for Feeding Hong Kong at its fourth annual Goodman Interlink Magic Mile Charity Ramp Run held at its flagship property in Tsing Yi.

Goodman Interlink, a landmark warehouse and distribution property located in Hong Kong's Tsing Yi port district, was once again filled with runners and cheering spectators, as the fourth annual Goodman Interlink Magic Mile Charity Ramp Run got underway this morning. The 346 runners competed in a race up the 15-floor cargo ramp of Goodman Interlink, helping to raise a record HK$1 million for Feeding Hong Kong, the first food bank in Hong Kong dedicated to redistributing surplus food to people in need.

Mr. Philip Pearce, Goodman's Managing Director, Greater China, said, "We are delighted to have reached our target and raised the HK$1 million for the purchase of a customised truck for Feeding Hong Kong, a charity which helps provide basic nutrition to those families in need in Hong Kong as well as helping to reduce the waste of surplus food. We are, as always, grateful for the generosity and support of all the sponsors and participants."

Ms. Gabrielle Kirstein, Executive Director of Feeding Hong Kong, commented, "We are very grateful to Goodman for hosting such a fantastic event and to everyone who took part and helped raise such an incredible donation. This new truck will make both an immediate and long-lasting impact, helping us to rescue more food and feed more people. Thank you for supporting our cause."

The event this year has received the generous support from major organisations, including platinum sponsors DTZ, ING Bank and Macquarie Capital, and the event's gold sponsors Allen & Overy, CBRE, Crédit Agricole CIB, King & Wood Mallesons, Knight Frank, NWS Holdings Limited and Savills.

Mr. Robert Scholten, ING Bank's Head of Real Estate Finance, Asia Pacific, remarked, "For all of us at ING Bank, we consider it our responsibility to make a positive contribution to the communities in which we operate. We are proud to be a platinum sponsor of the Goodman Interlink Magic Mile Charity Ramp Run for the second consecutive year, and to help support Feeding Hong Kong in their efforts."

Mr. Keith Chan, Macquarie Capital's Senior Managing Director, Head of Real Estate, Greater China, said, "This marks the third time that Macquarie Capital is supporting the Goodman Interlink Magic Mile Charity Ramp Run as a platinum sponsor. Participation in events such as this are an important element of our commitment to strengthen Hong Kong's community."

Feeding Hong Kong is a local charity set up in 2009 to collect, sort, store and distribute donated food to the Hong Kong community. Its prime purpose is to fight hunger in the city while at the same time reducing the amount of quality food that is wasted. The organisation also works to raise awareness about poverty, food insecurity and food waste in Hong Kong, as well as to promote healthy eating habits and nutrition in the most vulnerable communities.

The funds raised during the fourth Goodman Interlink Magic Mile Charity Ramp Run will be given to Feeding Hong Kong for the purchase of a ten-ton truck and to cover its on-road costs for two years. The truck will be used to deliver surplus bread and breakfasts to school children and will allow more schools to be added to the organisation's Breakfast Club food run. It will also greatly improve delivery efficiency and maximise the reach of all of the charity's initiatives. In addition to cash donations, Goodman staff will also volunteer to collect and deliver food for the charity.
