By funding trail maintenance and improvement, the Government of Canada is supporting winter tourism in Chaudière-Appalaches and across Quebec

ARMAGH, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - April 14, 2015) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, the Honourable Steven Blaney, Member of Parliament for Lévis-Bellechasse and Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, announces that the organizations Club Motoneige Bellechasse and Club Auto-Neige Ville-Marie Inc. have been granted funding to repair the sections of the Trans-Québec #5 snowmobile trail under their responsibility.

This financial assistance is being awarded in the form of non-repayable contributions totaling $9,433 through CED's Quebec Economic Development Program.

Quick facts

  • Club Motoneige Bellechasse will receive $7,000 to carry out work by the tunnel crossing Jean-Lesage Autoroute in the Municipality of Saint-Vallier. This will involve clearing ditches, building a dike and laying a pipe with a slide gate to divert water from the tunnel.

  • Club Auto-Neige Ville-Marie Inc., for its part, will get $2,433 to repair Rivière Boyer bridge in order to ensure the safety of snowmobilers and allow access for the snow grooming operations.

  • The aim of both projects is to provide safer conditions for the users of these sections of the Trans-Québec #5 snowmobile trail, one of the main gateways to the Chaudière-Appalaches region. The trail draws a large number of tourists every year due to the fact that it links the U.S. border to the south of Montréal and extends all the way to the Gaspésie region.
